Quarters for Critters, great summer project for kiddos!

Hey kiddos in the Lebanon County community!
What are you doing during your time off this summer?

The HSLC is starting a new fundraiser for the animals at the shelter! We have a five gallon jug that we would love to fill with quarters!

How can you help? Here are ideas!

Have a bake sale or car wash, mow the neighbor’s lawn, do chores for family and friends!

Then would you consider giving a donation of $5 or $10 in quarters to add to our Quarters for Critters collection jug?

If you would like to donate, please stop in the shelter anytime during open business hours. We will take a picture, maybe along with one of the shelter animals, and post to share your kindness and our progress! For every $5 you donate, you will be entered into a drawing for a family 4 pack of tickets to HersheyPark! Fun times ahead!

We are accepting donations through Sunday, August 11.

We will select a winner on Monday, August 12.

Woofs and purrs for giving thoughtful consideration to helping the shelter animals this Summer!

This is a purrfect community service project for individuals, families, playground groups, summer camps or daycare kiddos too!

Help! Be a foster! Save a life!

Do you wish you can save them all but know you just can’t?  We have the solution!  Volunteer to be a foster parent at the Humane Society of Lebanon County and help get our animals off to a great start before going up for adoption!

Sometimes puppies and kittens come into the shelter before they’re old enough to go up for adoption. Sometimes animals are undersocialized and could just use some time living in a home and adjusting to a home-life routine.  And sometimes animals suffer from treatable medical issues that will better heal outside of the shelter setting.  This is where you come in!

We’ll be with you every step of the way.  We’ll answer any questions or concerns you have during the foster period.  We’ll schedule check-ups with our foster coordinator or a veterinarian.  And we ensure you have access to us 24 hours a day should an emergency arise.

The Humane Society’s foster program provides you with everything needed to care for your new charge, including food, litter, bedding, crates, medications, and anything else your foster animal may need while in your care.  All we require you to provide is time, love, and patience.

If you’re interested in fostering, please fill out our foster application and submit it to Foster Coordinator at info@lebanonhumane.org or by mailing it to: Foster Coordinator, Humane Society of Lebanon County, 150 N Ramona Rd, Myerstown PA 17067.

TNR Clinic – June 3

A TNR clinic for stray and feral cats will be held on Saturday,  June 3!  Drop off will be between 9:00 am and 9:30 am.  Pick up will be between 2 pm and 4 pm (or earlier if staff calls once the cat is awake and ready to go home).

These TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) clinics will be low-cost spay and neuter clinics for feral and stray cats. The shelter takes appointments for TNR clinics via phone at (717) 628-1369, or by email at info@lebanonhumane.org. There will be 25 spots available per clinic, with spots being reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. No more than 3 spots will be reserved for a single individual per clinic. Cats must be brought to the shelter either in a trap or in a carrier.

Cost for the clinics is $30 per cat, which includes the spay and neuter surgery and a rabies vaccine. All cats will be ear-tipped for identification purposes. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Additional services offered include a FVRCP vaccine for $10, a FeLV/FIV test for $20, and flea preventative and deworming treatment for $10.

Lebanon City Residents:

To report an area with a large population of unowned stray and feral cats, within the Lebanon City limits, please email: TNR@LebanonHumane.org. The HSLC and the City of Lebanon  have begun a partnership to address these areas of concern through TNR and re-homing services.

Recommended Low-Cost Clinics

While the shelter cannot at this time offer vaccinations or spay/neuter surgeries for the public other than what is offered in clinics, there are a number of low-cost veterinary services which the shelter does recommend to the surrounding community.
